The ZOE consortium will meet in Bratislava on May 21st-24th to present and discuss the project’s progress during its first reporting period. The meeting will be hosted at the Institute of Virology of the Biomedical Research Center of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava. At least one representative of each partner institution will be present, either in person or remotely, to take part in this important milestone. They will present the work carried out in each of ZOE’s work-packages during the first 18 months of the project. ZOE’s Advisory Board and Ethics Advisor will review the project’s scientific excellence and ethical standards and offer feedback and suggestions. EU’s Policy Officer will join the meeting to offer updates and information to further advance ZOE’s impact at the science-policy interface. Lastly, the consortium will convene ZOE’s General Assembly to act on key decisions at the heart of the project.

Throughout the four-day meeting, the participants will have ample opportunity to share their views and experiences in social events as well. They will enjoy gastronomic delights during a get-together at the restaurant Riva bar & bites located on a ship on the Danube River and upon a social dinner at the iconic restaurant Blue Star under the Bratislava Castle. Cultural adventure awaits them, with an excursion to the Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum. Surrounded by the Danube river and located at the borders of Slovakia, Hungary and Austria, this unique museum of modern art has breathtaking architecture and view. In the last 25 years it has hosted dozens of exhibitions of prestigious figures of the Slovak, European and global art scene. The adjacent sculpture park features works of renowned artists. Lastly, the participants staying until Saturday will experience the regional rare flora and fauna in a guided visit to beautiful Danube floodplain areas.
