In January 2025, the ZOE coordinators met with Boris Klempa’s team in Bratislava at the Biomedical Research Centre of the Slovak Academy of Sciences. (BMC SAS). Slovakia is one of the ZOE fieldwork countries where ZOE will investigate the prevalence of bacteria and viruses in rodents, ticks and mosquitoes. The field work will start this spring in western Slovakia. During the meeting we discussed and prepared together the agenda for the ZOE mid-term meeting that will take place in May this year in Bratislava at BMC, discussed sampling strategies and functioning of trapping devices and also visited one of the selected sampling sites – old former orchards that are now open for reforestation.
